Cartexel.AI Page Auditor ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that analyzes the web page you are viewing and reports how readable it is to AI answer engines, search engines, and automated agents. This policy explains what data the extension accesses and how it is handled.

What the extension accesses

  • The content of the page you audit. When you click the extension's icon (or the "Compare" or AI buttons), the extension reads the current page's URL, HTML, text, structured data, and accessibility information, and measures its load performance. This happens only on the page you are actively viewing and only when you invoke the extension.
  • Your settings. Your optional Anthropic API key, your chosen model, and your theme preference are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.sync.

How data is used and shared

  • Local processing. The core audit (scores, issues, Core Web Vitals, feed readiness) runs entirely inside your browser. This data is not sent to Cartexel or to any server.
  • Optional AI features. If — and only if — you click the "Run deep analysis" or "Run citability test" button, the extracted text of the current page is sent to the Anthropic API (anthropic.com) using your own API key, so that Claude can analyze it. This is necessary to provide the feature you requested. See Anthropic's privacy policy for how they handle that request.
  • Optional competitor comparison. If you enter a competitor URL and click "Compare," the extension fetches that page's HTML to score it. Requests to localhost and private/internal addresses are blocked.

What we do NOT do

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your data to Cartexel's servers.
  • We do not run analytics, tracking, or advertising.
  • We do not sell or transfer your data to third parties.
  • We do not collect browsing history; the extension only reads a page when you explicitly run it.
  • Your Anthropic API key stays in your browser and is sent only to Anthropic's API — never to us.

Your control

The AI features are entirely optional and require you to add your own API key. You can remove the key at any time from the extension's settings, and uninstalling the extension removes all stored settings.
